Processional Song Magic Moments
My favorite part of the ceremony has always been the Bride’s processional. The moments leading up to it where you can see all the love, the anticipation, and nerves from both people as they are moments away from being united forever are priceless.
Unless they have envisioned their ceremony to have traditional music, I will closely work with my couple to find the songs that have some special meaning to them.
I like to find the perfect part of the song for the bride to walk down the aisle to. Most of the time you can find it within the first 20-30 seconds. That’s also a great length of time to let the excitement build….
This week we created that moment at an Austin Wedding.
Our bride had chosen “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles.
Behind the scenes,
The Bride and I have talked about the entrance, the anticipation buildup, the part of the song the doors will open to, and the part of the song she will start the procession to. I asked the officiant to announce for everyone to “please rise” when he sees the doors halfway open as we had some coordination that starts with his announcement. The coordinator has already lined up our bride with her Father and Brother, fixed her train, positioned the bouquet, and has them set and ready to go.
I ask her is she is ready… she smiles…
I start the song…
From the Altar:
The flower girl makes her way down the aisle… the wedding party’s song ends…. A couple of seconds go by Our Groom hears that familiar guitar riff that starts “Here Comes the Sun”…. This song has never sounded better to him than it does right now… The family and guests all turn their heads to the double doors…
“Here comes the sun (doo doo doo doo)…Here comes the sun…. and I say, It’s alright… “ As soon as that little 4 second bridge to the 1st verse starts, the coordinator and I slowly open the doors simultaneously… The officiant says “Please Rise” …….Our bride makes eye contact with her soon to be… you see his knees give just a little bit …he tries to maintain his composure as he sees his bride lock eyes with him.
“Little darling…” As the verse begins, Arm – in arm – in arm with her father and brother, she starts her procession and makes her way to the rest of her life……….
A beautiful ceremony followed…
I have to admit I got a little caught up in the moment. I had to wipe some dust from my eye as it was causing it to tear up.
